About Mark A Johnson Photography

Professional sports photographer Mark Johnson on a Gold Coast beachHi folks!

I am from Hawaii and divide my time between there and Brisbane, Australia, where my wife is a Marine Biologist at the University of Queensland. I am a commercial, stock, & fine art photographer, known for my watersports and marine nature imagery, in addition to travel and lifestyle photography.

My photographs have appeared in magazines such as Outside, National Geographic Adventure, Men's Health, Bike, Surfer's Journal, Surfer and Surfing, and many others around the world.

A few of the companies that have used my stock photography in their projects have been Microsoft, General Mills, Marriot, Radio Shack, Discovery Channel, Rodale, Rip Curl, Verizon, and many more international companies. Have a look at my Published Work gallery to see some of the ways my photographs have been used.

My work is represented by Getty, Corbis and Alamy

All of my images are available for Rights Managed licensing and immediate download as high resolution jpegs (usually as 48-51 MB uncompressed files) to meet all of your commercial or editorial requirements.  Photographic prints and other products are available through approved professional labs in the USA for low price shipping anywhere worldwide.*

Images are uploaded frequently to this site, but not all are put into galleries, so please use the Search page to search for the subject you are interested in.

*When you find a photograph you like, simply click on the thumbnail to enlarge it, then on the "Buy Image" button.  To license the photograph, click the "Downloads" tab, and fill out the online Rights Managed licensing form to find the fee for your requested use.  From there you can pay for, and immediately download a high resolution jpg for your project. To order unframed unsigned prints, or Products like coffee mugs and shirts, just click the "Prints" or "Products" tab.  You can add multiple photographs to your Cart, and view them at any time by clicking on Cart just to the left.

A few customers have asked me about the differences amongst the different paper finishes when ordering prints from my web page.  My photo lab uses Kodak Professional Supra Endura paper in Lustre, Matte, Glossy and Kodak Professional Metallic finishes. One of these papers is just right for you! Here is how the lab describes each paper: "All Supra Endura media deliver saturated color with exceptional, accurate flesh-tone reproduction. Lustre is one of the most popular papers and with good reason: it is a great all-around paper choice; a slight sheen and an ultra fine texture make this paper a favorite for portraits as well as fine art photographers. Matte finish has the least amount of shine of all the papers we offer, but like other Supra Endura papers, skin tones are true and details intense. Glossy finish is a true gloss paper; high shine delivers high impact images with superb flesh tones. The Endura Metallic paper has a unique metallic sheen for stunning visual impact and depth; our most dramatic paper for colors that pop right off the print!"   (My own favorite finish is Metallic...the special shiny coating really saturates and enhances the colors).
